The world's main energy is fossil fuel. Such as coal, oil and gas. However, these energy are unrenewable and unclean energy,they have great impact on the earth, they can pollute the air, water, soil, do harm to human's health and contribute to global warming. According to the article, the gases like carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and methane contributes to greenhouse effect in the earth's atmosphere. The gases let the sunlight warm the earth easily. As a good steward of environment, it's our responsibility to find out better energy to save the earth. Clean and renewable energy are good choices. In Hawaii, about 93% of the energy we use comes from imported oil. Depanding on single source is dangerous.
Wind energy is a good choice. Wind turbine can catch the wind for generating electricity., the Hawaii government is supporting this kind of new energy, and there is 20% tax for wind energy. Kahuku wind farm produced 12 MW of power from 120 turbines.
Solar energy is also a good choice. Hawaii is a shinny place. It's easy to turn sunlight into electricity. We can also use solar energy for heating.
Wave energy is reliable too. We can use wave energy for generating electricity. Rising and falling sea turns the turbine and generate electricity. Hawaii has among the most powerful waves of the world, so we sould make a fully use of wave energy.
